Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11547 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عمرٍو عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا لَزِمَ غَرِيمًا لَهُ بِعَشَرَةِ دَنَانِيرَ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدِي قَضَاءٌ أَقْضِيكَ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ فَوَاللهِ لَا أُفَارِقُكَ حَتَّى تَقْضِيَ أَوْ تَأْتِيَ بِحَمِيلٍ يَحْمِلُ عَنْكَ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدِي قَضَاءٌ وَمَا أَجِدُ أَحَدًا يَحْمِلُهُ عَنِّي قَالَ فَجَرَّهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا لَزَمَني واستنظرتُهُ شَهْرًا وَاحِدًا فَأَبَى حَتَّى أَقْضِيَهُ أَوْ آتِيَهُ بِحَمِيلٍ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ مَا أَجِدُ حَمِيلًا وَمَا عِنْدِي قَضَاءٌ الْيَوْمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ تَسْتَنْظِرُهُ إِلَّا شَهْرًا وَاحِدًا؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَأَنَا أَحْمِلُهَا عَنْكَ» فَتَحَمَّلَها رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ فَأَتَاهُ بِقَدْرِ مَا وَعْدَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مِنْ أَيْنَ أَصَبْتَ هَذَا الذَّهَبَ؟» قَالَ مَنْ مَعْدِنٍ قَالَ «فَاذْهَبْ فَلَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا فِيهَا وَلَيْسَ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ» فَقَضَاهَا عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that a man seized his debtor for ten dinars. The debtor said: 'By Allah, I have nothing to pay you today.' He said: 'By Allah, I will not leave you until you pay or bring a guarantor.' He said: 'By Allah, I have nothing to pay and I cannot find anyone to guarantee it.' So he dragged him to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The debtor said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this man has seized me and I asked him to give me a month's respite, but he refused unless I pay or bring a guarantor. I said: By Allah, I cannot find a guarantor and I have nothing to pay today.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Will you give him respite for only one month?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then I will guarantee it for him.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) guaranteed it. The man went and brought the amount he had promised. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked him: 'Where did you get this gold?' He said: 'From a mine.' He said: 'Go, we have no need of it, and there is no good in it.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) paid it on his behalf.
