Arabic (Original)
نَا نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ، قَالَ:" سَأَلْتُابْنَ عَبَّاسٍعَنْ قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:دَارَسْتَ , قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ وَتَعَلَّمْتُ".
English Translation
Abu al-Aliyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the verse: 'And He taught Adam the names — all of them' (al-Baqarah: 31) — He said: 'He taught him the name of everything: this is a mountain, this is a sea, this is such-and-such, and He taught him the name of every single thing.'
Urdu Translation
بنی تمیم کے ایک شخص بیان کرتے ہیں: میں نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے اللہ عزوجل کے فرمان«دَارَسْتَ»کے بارے میں سوال کیا تو انہوں نے فرمایا: اس کا مطلب ہے تم نے پڑھا اور سیکھا۔[سنن سعید بن منصور/كتاب التفسير/حدیث: 902]
