عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَحْقِرْ أَحَدُكُمْ نَفْسَهُ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ يَحْقِرُ أَحَدُنَا نَفْسَهُ؟ قَالَ: يَرَى أَمْرَ الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ مَقَالٌ، ثُمَّ لَا يَقُولُ فِيهِ، فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ: مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَقُولَ فِي كَذَا وَكَذَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: خَشْيَةُ النَّاسِ، فَيَقُولُ: فَإِيَّايَ كُنْتَ أَحَقَّ أَنْ تَخْشَى" رواه ابن ماجه بسند صحيح
English Translation
On the authority of Hadrat Abu Sa'id (may Allah be well pleased with him), who said that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: Let not any one of you belittle himself. They said: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), how can any one of us belittle himself? He stated: He finds a matter concerning Allah about which he should say something, and he does not say it out of fear of people. Then Allah (mighty and sublime be He) says to him on the Day of Resurrection: What prevented you from saying such-and-such? He will say: Fear of the people. He will say: Rather it is I whom you should more properly fear. It was related by Ibn Majah with a sound chain of authorities.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو سعید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم میں سے کوئی اپنے آپ کو ذلیل نہ کرے۔ صحابہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم! ہم میں سے کوئی اپنے آپ کو کیسے ذلیل کرتا ہے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: وہ اللہ کے بارے میں کوئی ایسا معاملہ دیکھتا ہے جس پر اسے بات کرنی چاہیے لیکن لوگوں کے ڈر سے خاموش رہتا ہے۔ تو اللہ عزوجل قیامت کے دن اس سے فرمائے گا: تجھے فلاں فلاں بات کہنے سے کس چیز نے روکا؟ وہ عرض کرے گا: لوگوں کا ڈر۔ فرمائے گا: مجھ سے ڈرنا تیرے لیے زیادہ حق دار تھا۔ اسے ابن ماجہ نے صحیح سند سے روایت کیا۔
