أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " يَا عُقْبَةُ قُلْ " . فَقُلْتُ مَاذَا أَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ " يَا عُقْبَةُ قُلْ " . قُلْتُ مَاذَا أَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ اللَّهُمَّ ارْدُدْهُ عَلَىَّ فَقَالَ " يَا عُقْبَةُ قُلْ " . قُلْتُ مَاذَا أَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ " { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ } فَقَرَأْتُهَا حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ عَلَى آخِرِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ " قُلْ " . قُلْتُ مَاذَا أَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ } " . فَقَرَأْتُهَا حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ عَلَى آخِرِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ " مَا سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِمِثْلِهِمَا وَلاَ اسْتَعَاذَ مُسْتَعِيذٌ بِمِثْلِهِمَا " .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat 'Uqbah bin 'Amir (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "I was walking with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] and he said: "O 'Uqbah, say!' I said: 'What should I say, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He did not answer me, then h esaid: 'O 'Uqbah, say!' I said: 'What should I say, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' But he did not answer me. I said: 'O Allah, make him answer me.' He said: 'O 'Uqbah, say!' I said: 'What should I say, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He said: 'Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of the daybreak...' So I recited it until I came to the end. Then he said: 'Say,' and I said: 'What should I say, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He said: 'Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind...,' so I recited it until I came to the end. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] said: 'No one who asks has ever asked by means of anything like them, and no one who seeks refuge has ever sought refuge with anything like them
Urdu Translation
حضرت عقبہ بن عامر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ چل رہا تھا، آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اے عقبہ! پڑھو"۔ میں نے عرض کیا: کیا پڑھوں یا رسول اللہ؟ آپ خاموش رہے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: "اے عقبہ! پڑھو"۔ میں نے عرض کیا: کیا پڑھوں یا رسول اللہ؟ آپ خاموش رہے، تو میں نے دل میں کہا: اے اللہ! آپ کو مجھ پر جواب دلا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اے عقبہ! پڑھو"۔ میں نے عرض کیا: کیا پڑھوں یا رسول اللہ؟ ارشاد فرمایا: "قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ"، تو میں نے آخر تک پڑھی۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: "پڑھو"۔ میں نے عرض کیا: کیا پڑھوں یا رسول اللہ؟ ارشاد فرمایا: "قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ"، تو میں نے آخر تک پڑھی۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "کسی سوال کرنے والے نے ان جیسی کسی چیز سے سوال نہیں کیا اور کسی پناہ مانگنے والے نے ان جیسی کسی چیز سے پناہ نہیں مانگی"۔
