English Translation
Narrated 'Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid: When 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) returned from Muzdalifa, he called out the Talbiya, and the people said, "Perhaps this is some man from the village?" (that is, one who is now calling the Talbiya). So 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Have the people forgotten (that is, the Sunna of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him), or have they gone astray? I myself heard the one upon whom Surat al-Baqara was revealed (that is, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him) that he used to call the Talbiya at this place."
Urdu Translation
عبدالرحمن بن یزید سے روایت ہے کہسیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما جب مزدلفہ سے لوٹے تو لبیک پکاری، تو لوگوں نے کہا کہ شاید یہ گاؤں کا کوئی آدمی ہے؟ (یعنی جو اب لبیک پکارتا ہے) تو سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا، کیا لوگ بھول گئے (یعنی سنت رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) یا گمراہ ہو گئے؟ میں نے خود ان سے سنا ہے جن پر سورۃ البقرہ نازل ہوئی (یعنی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے) کہ وہ اس جگہ میں لبیک پکارتے تھے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 722]
