English Translation

Narrated Kurayb: He asked Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), "When you were riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the evening of Arafah, what did you do?" He said, "We came to this valley where people make their camels kneel for the Maghrib prayer, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made his she-camel kneel, dismounted, and urinated." (And Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) did not mention pouring water, i.e., washing.) "Then he called for the water of ablution and made a light ablution, not thorough (i.e., washing each limb once). And I said, 'O Messenger of Allah! The prayer?' He (peace be upon him) said, 'The prayer is ahead of you.' Then he (peace be upon him) mounted until we came to Muzdalifah, and the iqamah for the Maghrib prayer was made, and the people made their camels kneel and did not unload them until the iqamah for Isha was made, and he (peace be upon him) led the Isha prayer; then they unloaded the camels." I said, "Then what did you do in the morning?" He said, "Then al-Fadl ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) rode behind him (peace be upon him), and I walked on foot with the Quraysh who went ahead."
