English Translation
Abu Zumayl said: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me and said: The Muslims used to pay no attention to Abu Sufyan and would not sit with him (because Abu Sufyan had fought several times against the Prophet (peace be upon him) and was a bitter enemy of the Muslims). Once he said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): O Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him)! Grant me three things. He (peace be upon him) said: Very well. Abu Sufyan said: I have with me a woman who is the finest and most beautiful of all the Arabs, Umm Habiba, my daughter; I give her to you (peace be upon him) in marriage. He (peace be upon him) said: Very well. Second: appoint my son Mu'awiya (may Allah be pleased with him) as your scribe. He (peace be upon him) said: Very well. Third: command me to fight the disbelievers as I used to fight the Muslims (before Islam). So he (peace be upon him) said: Very well. Abu Zumayl said: Had he not asked these things of him (peace be upon him), he (peace be upon him) would not have granted them, because (it was his (peace be upon him) habit) that whenever he was asked for anything, he (peace be upon him) would say yes.
Urdu Translation
ابوزمیل کہتے ہیں کہمجھ سے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا اور کہا کہ مسلمان ابوسفیان کی طرف دھیان نہ کرتے تھے اور نہ اس کے ساتھ بیٹھتے تھے (کیونکہ ابوسفیان کئی مرتبہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے لڑا تھا اور مسلمانوں کا سخت دشمن تھا)۔ ایک بار وہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے بولا کہ اے نبی اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! تین باتیں مجھے عطا فرمائیے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اچھا۔ ابوسفیان نے کہا کہ میرے پاس وہ عورت ہے کہ تمام عربوں میں حسین اور خوبصورت ہے، ام حبیبہ میری بیٹی، میں اس کا نکاح آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کر دیتا ہوں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا اچھا۔ دوسری یہ کہ میرے بیٹے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو اپنا منشی بنائیے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اچھا۔ تیسرے مجھ کو کافروں سے لڑنے کا حکم دیجئیے (جیسے اسلام سے پہلے) مسلمانوں سے لڑتا تھا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اچھا۔ ابوزمیل نے کہا کہ اگر وہ ان باتوں کا سوال آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے نہ کرتے تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنہ دیتے اس لئے کہ (آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی عادت تھی) کہ جب آپ سے کوئی سوال کیا جاتا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمہاں ہی کرتے تھے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1711]
