English Translation
Abu Salamah says: I used to see some dreams such that (out of fear of them) I would fall ill. Then I met Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) (and asked him about this), and he said, "My condition was the same, until I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, 'A good dream is from Allah the Exalted. So when any of you sees a good dream, let him not relate it except to one he loves, and when he sees a bad dream, let him spit three times to his left and seek refuge with Allah from the evil of Satan and relate it to no one, then it will not harm him.'"
Urdu Translation
ابوسلمہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں بعض خواب ایسے دیکھتا کہ (اس کے ڈر کی وجہ سے) بیمار ہو جاتا تھا۔ پھر میں ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے ملا (ان سے اس بارہ میں پوچھا) انہوں نے کہا کہ میرا بھی یہی حال تھا، یہاں تک کہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ اچھا خواب اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف سے ہوتا ہے۔ پس جب تم میں سے کوئی اچھا خواب دیکھے تو بیان نہ کرے مگر اپنے دوست سے اور جب برا خواب دیکھے تو بائیں طرف تین بار تھوکے اور شیطان کے شر سے اللہ کی پناہ مانگے اور کسی سے بیان نہ کرے تو اس کو نقصان نہ ہو گا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1517]
