English Translation
Abu Salamah says: I heard Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, "A good dream is from Allah the Exalted, and a bad dream is from Satan. So when any of you sees a disliked dream, let him spit to his left," or "(without spitting) let him make a spitting motion and seek refuge with Allah from its evil, and then that dream will not harm him." Abu Salamah said: I used to see some dreams that were heavier upon me than a mountain, but when I heard this hadith, I gave them no concern.
Urdu Translation
ابوسلمہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے سیدنا ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، وہ کہتے تھے کہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ اچھا خواب اللہ تعالیٰ کی طرف سے ہے اور برا خواب شیطان کی طرف سے۔ پھر جب کوئی تم میں سے ناپسندیدہ خواب دیکھے تو بائیں طرف تھوکے یا (تھوکے بغیر) تھو تھو کرے اور اللہ کی پناہ مانگے اس کے شر سے، پھر وہ خواب اس کو ضرر نہیں پہنچائے گا۔ ابوسلمہ نے کہا کہ میں بعض خواب ایسے دیکھتا جو کہ پہاڑ سے بھی زیادہ مجھ پر بھاری ہوتے، لیکن جب میں نے یہ حدیث سنی تو مجھ کو کچھ پرواہ نہ رہی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1516]
