English Translation
Salamah ibn al-Akwa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We fought the jihad of Hunayn (the Battle of Hunayn) with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). When we faced the enemy, I went forward and climbed a mountain pass. A man of the enemy came before me. I shot an arrow at him, and he disappeared from me, and I could not tell what he did. I looked at the people, and they had appeared from another pass, and a battle took place between them and the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), but the Companions turned back. I too returned defeated, and I was wearing two sheets, one tied as a waist-wrapper and the other worn over me. My waist-wrapper came loose, so I gathered both sheets together, and being defeated I passed before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said, "The son of al-Akwa has returned in panic." Then the enemy surrounded the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) dismounted from his mule and took a handful of dust from the ground and threw it at their faces and said, "May the faces be disfigured." Then not a man among them remained but that his eyes were filled with dust from that single handful. At last they fled, and Allah the Exalted defeated them, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) distributed their property among the Muslims.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا سلمہ بن اکوع رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نے حنین کا جہاد (غزوہ حنین) رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ کیا۔ جب دشمن کا سامنا ہوا، تو میں آگے بڑھ کر ایک گھاٹی پر چڑھا۔ دشمنوں میں سے ایک شخص میرے سامنے آیا۔ میں نے اس پر تیر مارا تو وہ مجھ سے اوجھل ہو گیا اور مجھے معلوم نہ ہو سکا کہ اس نے کیا کیا۔ میں نے لوگوں کو دیکھا تو وہ دوسری گھاٹی سے نمودار ہوئے اور ان کی اور نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے صحابہ کی جنگ ہوئی، لیکن صحابہ پیچھے کو پلٹے۔ میں بھی شکست خوردہ ہو کر لوٹا اور میں دو چادریں پہنے ہوئے تھا، ایک تہہ بند باندھے ہوئے اور دوسری اوڑھے ہوئے تھا۔ میری تہبند کھل گئی تو میں نے دونوں چادروں کو اکٹھا کر لیا اور شکست پا کر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے سامنے سے گزرا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اکوع کا بیٹا گھبرا کر لوٹا۔ پھر دشمنوں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو گھیرا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمخچر پر سے اترے اور ایک مٹھی خاک زمین سے اٹھائی اور ان کے منہ پر ماری اور فرمایا کہ بگڑ گئے منہ۔ پھر کوئی آدمی ان میں ایسا نہ رہا جس کی آنکھ میں اسی ایک مٹھی کی وجہ سے خاک نہ بھر گئی ہو۔ آخر وہ بھاگ گئے اور اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کو شکست دی اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ان کے مال مسلمانوں کو بانٹ دئیے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1191]
