Arabic (Original)
وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى بَعَثَنِي رَحْمَة للعالمينَ وهُدىً لِلْعَالِمِينَ وَأَمَرَنِي رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِمَحْقِ الْمَعَازِفِ وَالْمَزَامِيرِ وَالْأَوْثَانِ وَالصُّلُبِ وَأَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَحَلَفَ رَبِّي عزَّ وجلَّ: بعِزَّتي لَا يشربُ عبدٌ منْ عَبِيدِي جرعة خَمْرٍ إِلَّا سَقَيْتُهُ مِنَ الصَّدِيدِ مِثْلَهَا وَلَا يَتْرُكُهَا مِنْ مَخَافَتِي إِلَّا سَقَيْتُهُ مِنْ حِيَاضِ الْقُدس ". رَوَاهُ أَحْمد
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Umama reported the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) as saying, “God has sent me as a mercy to the universe and as a guidance to the universe, and my Lord who is great and glorious has commanded me to annihilate stringed instruments, wind instruments, idols, crosses and pre-Islamic customs, and my Lord who is great and glorious has sworn, ‘By my might, none of my servants will drink a mouthful of wine without my giving him a similar amount of pus to drink, but he will not abandon it through fear of me without my giving him drink from the holy tanks'.” Ahmad transmitted it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو امامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ نے مجھے تمام جہانوں کے لیے رحمت اور ہدایت بنا کر بھیجا ہے، اور میرے رب عزوجل نے مجھے بربط، بانسری، بت، صلیب اور جاہلیت کے کاموں کو مٹانے کا حکم دیا ہے۔ اور میرے رب عزوجل نے اپنی عزت کی قسم کھائی ہے: میرا کوئی بندہ شراب کا ایک گھونٹ نہ پیے گا مگر میں اسے اتنا ہی پیپ پلاؤں گا، اور جو اسے میرے خوف سے چھوڑ دے گا اسے حوضِ قدس سے پلاؤں گا۔ (مسند احمد)
