أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ بِمَنْبَجٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا أَذِنَ اللَّهُ لِشَيْءٍ مَا أَذِنَ لِنَبِيٍّ يَتَغَنَّى بِالْقُرْآنِ»
English Translation
Ahmad bin Ali bin al-Muthanna narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Adi bin Thabit who said: I heard Abdullah bin Yazid narrating from Ziyad bin al-Harith al-Suda'i who said: I prayed with the Prophet (ﷺ), and a man came and said: O Allah, give me the best of what You give Your righteous servants. When he finished, he said: 'Who is the supplicant?' He said: I am, O Messenger of Allah. He said: 'If you say that, you have made it binding.'
