أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ الْبُرْسَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْيَعْمُرِيِّ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَنَا عِنْدَ عُقْرِ حَوْضِي أَذُودُ عَنْهُ النَّاسَ إِنِّي لَأَضْرِبُهُمْ بِعَصَايَ حَتَّى يَرْفَضَّ» قَالَ وَسُئِلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ سَعَةِ الْحَوْضِ فَقَالَ «مِثْلُ مَقَامِي هَذَا إِلَى عَمَّانَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا شَهْرٌ أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ» وَسُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ شَرَابِهِ فَقَالَ «أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ يَنْبَعِثُ فِيهِ مِيزَابَانِ مِدَادُهُمَا الْجَنَّةُ أَحَدُهُمَا دُرٌّ وَالْآخَرُ ذَهَبٌ»
English Translation
Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Bakr al-Bursani narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Ma'dan ibn Abi Talhah al-Ya'muri, from Thawban, that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: 'I will be at the edge of my Basin, defending it from people. I will strike them with my staff until they scatter.' He said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ was asked about the width of the Basin, and he said: 'Like the distance from my standing place here to Amman, which is a month's journey or thereabouts.' And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about its drink, and he said: 'Whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Two spouts flow into it from Paradise, one of pearls and the other of gold.'
