أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا الرُّكَيْنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الْفَزَارِيُّ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ جَرَّ الْإِزَارِ وَالتَّبَرُّجَ بِالزِّينَةِ لِغَيْرِ أَهْلِهَا وَعَزْلَ الْمَاءِ عَنْ مَحِلِّهِ وَضَرْبَ الْكِعَابِ وَالصُّفْرَةَ وَتَغْيِيرَ الشَّيْبِ وَعَقْدَ التَّمَائِمِ وَالرُّقَى إِلَّا بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ»
English Translation
Ibn Qutayba informed us, Ibn Abi al-Sarri narrated to us, Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Rukayn ibn al-Rabi' al-Fazari narrated to us, from al-Qasim ibn Hassan, from his uncle Abd al-Rahman ibn Harmala, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: That the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) disliked dragging the lower garment, displaying beauty ornaments to those other than one's family, withdrawing water from its place, playing with dice, using saffron dye, altering gray hair, wearing amulets, and incantations except with the protective chapters (Mu'awwidhat).
