أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ سَفَرًا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَوْصِنِي فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ عَلَى كُلِّ شَرَفٍ» فَلَمَّا وَلَّى الرَّجُلُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اللَّهُمَّ ازْوِ لَهُ الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْهِ السَّفَرَ»
English Translation
Kurayb narrated from Ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) went out in the middle of the night, looked at the sky, and recited: 'Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth...' until he reached the end of the Surah. Then he returned to his home, used the tooth-stick, performed ablution, then stood up and prayed two rak'ahs, then lay down and slept until he snored. He did that three times, which made six rak'ahs, using the tooth-stick each time, performing ablution, and reciting these verses. Then he performed witr with three rak'ahs. The mu'adhin called the adhan, so he went out for prayer, and he was saying: 'O Allah, place light in my heart' - and I think he said - 'and light in my tongue, make light in my hearing and light in my sight, and make light behind me and light in front of me, and light above me and light below me. O Allah, make light for me.'

کریب نے ابن عباس سے روایت کی: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آدھی رات کو نکلے، آسمان کی طرف دیکھا، اور تلاوت کی: 'بیشک آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق میں...' یہاں تک کہ سورہ کے آخر تک پہنچے۔ پھر آپ اپنے گھر واپس آئے، مسواک کی، وضو کیا، پھر کھڑے ہوئے اور دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، پھر لیٹ گئے اور سو گئے یہاں تک کہ خراٹے لیے۔ آپ نے یہ تین بار کیا، جو چھ رکعتیں ہوئیں، ہر بار مسواک کرتے، وضو کرتے، اور یہ آیات پڑھتے۔ پھر آپ نے تین رکعت وتر پڑھی۔ مؤذن نے اذان دی، تو آپ نماز کے لیے نکلے، اور آپ کہہ رہے تھے: 'اے اللہ! میرے دل میں نور رکھ' - اور میرا خیال ہے آپ نے کہا - 'اور میری زبان میں نور، میرے کانوں میں نور بنا اور میری آنکھوں میں نور، اور میرے پیچھے نور بنا اور میرے آگے نور، اور میرے اوپر نور اور میرے نیچے نور۔ اے اللہ! میرے لیے نور بنا دے۔'
