English Translation
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Last night I saw in a dream a canopy (cloud) dripping ghee and honey, and people were gathering it, some little, some much. And I saw a rope connecting the sky to the earth, and I saw you (peace be upon him) take hold of it and ascend. Then after you (peace be upon him), another man took hold of it and ascended by it, then another man took hold and ascended, then after them another man took hold of it, and the rope broke and then was rejoined." Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to interpret this dream." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Go ahead, interpret it." He said, "The canopy is Islam, and the ghee and honey dripping from it are the Glorious Qur'an and its recitation, and those gathering it are those who acquire the Qur'an, little or much. And the rope connecting the sky to the earth is the truth that Allah the Exalted has sent down upon you; holding on to it, Allah the Exalted will raise you up. Then after you another man will take hold of it and ascend, then another man will ascend, then another man will take hold of it, and the rope will break, then it will be rejoined and he too will ascend. O Messenger of Allah, may my mother and father be sacrificed for you, tell me: did I interpret it correctly or did I err?" He (peace be upon him) said: "You got some of it right and erred in some." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, tell me what I got wrong." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Do not swear an oath."
Urdu Translation
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہایک شخص رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی خدمت میں حاضر ہو کر کہنے لگا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں نے رات کو خواب میں دیکھا کہ ایک چھتری (بادل) ہے اور اس میں سے گھی اور شہد ٹپک رہا ہے اور لوگ اس کو اٹھا رہے ہیں کوئی کم کوئی زیادہ اور میں نے ایک رسی آسمان سے زمین تک ملی ہوئی دیکھی اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو میں نے دیکھا کہ آپ اس کو پکڑ کر چڑھ گئے پھر آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے بعد ایک اور شخص نے اس کو پکڑا اور وہ بھی اس پر چڑھ گئے پھر ایک اور شخص اس کو پکڑ کر چڑھے پھر ان کے بعد ایک اور شخص نے اس کو پکڑا تو وہ رسی ٹوٹ گئی اور پھر جڑ گئی۔ سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کی کہ یا رسول اللہ! مجھے اجازت دیجئیے کہ میں اس خواب کی تعبیر بیان کروں۔ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”اچھا بیان کرو۔“انھوں نے کہا وہ چھتری تو اسلام ہے اور اس میں سے وہ گھی اور شہد جو ٹپکتا ہے وہ قرآن مجید اور اس کی تلاوت ہے اور اس کے اٹھانے والے قرآن کے حاصل کرنے والے ہیں کم یا زیادہ اور وہ رسی جو آسمان سے زمین تک ملی ہوئی ہے وہ، وہ حق ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ پر نازل کیا ہے اسی کو پکڑ کر اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کو اوپر چڑھائے گا اور پھر آپ کے بعد ایک اور شخص اس کو پکڑ کر اوپر چڑھے گا اور پھر ایک اور شخص اوپر چڑھے گا اور پھر ایک اور شخص جو اس کو پکڑے گا تو وہ رسی ٹوٹ جائے گی۔ پھر جوڑی جائے گی تو وہ بھی چڑھ جائے گا۔ یا رسول اللہ! میرے ماں باپ آپ پر فدا ہوں بتائیے کہ کیا میں ٹھیک تعبیر بیان کی یا غلطی کی؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”کچھ ٹھیک بیان کی کچھ غلطی کھائی۔“انھوں نے عرض کی کہ یا رسول اللہ! اللہ کی قسم جو کچھ میں نے غلط بیان کیا ہے وہ مجھے بتا دیجئیے۔ نبی اکرمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”قسم نہ کھاؤ۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 2186]
