English Translation
Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): When this verse was revealed, "Say: He is able to send upon you a punishment from above you," the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "O Allah! I seek refuge in Your Face." Then Allah said, "Or from beneath your feet." So he (peace be upon him) said, "O Allah! I seek refuge in Your Face." Then Allah said, "Or that He confounds you into rival factions and makes you taste the violence of one another." He (peace be upon him) said, "This is lighter or easier than the earlier punishments." (Surah al-An'am: 65)
Urdu Translation
سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہجب یہ آیت نازل ہوئی”آپ کہہ دیجئیے کہ اس پر بھی وہی قادر ہے کہ تم پر کوئی عذاب اوپر سے نازل کر دے“تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”اے اللہ! میں تیرے چہرے کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔“پھر اللہ نے کہا”یا تمہارے پاؤں کے نیچے سے۔“تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”اے اللہ! میں تیرے چہرے کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔“پھر اللہ نے کہا”یا کہ تم کو گروہ گروہ کر کے سب کو لڑا دے اور تمہارے ایک کو دوسرے کی لڑائی چکھا دے۔“آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”یہ پہلے عذابوں سے تو ہلکا یا آسان ہے۔“(سورۃ المائدہ: 65)[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1741]
