حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " صَلُّوا قَبْلَ صَلاَةِ الْمَغْرِبِ ـ قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ ـ لِمَنْ شَاءَ ". كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهَا النَّاسُ سُنَّةً.
English Translation
Abu Ma'mar narrated to us, he said Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from al-Husayn, from Ibn Buraydah, Hadrat Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated to me from the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who declared: "Pray (two rak'ahs) before the Maghrib prayer" — and in the third time he said — "for whoever wishes." (He said this) out of dislike that the people should take it as an established Sunnah.
Urdu Translation
ہم سے ابومعمر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے عبدالوارث نے بیان کیا، ان سے حسین نے، ان سے ابن بریدہ نے، مجھ سے حضرت عبداللہ مزنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "مغرب کی نماز سے پہلے (دو رکعت) نماز پڑھو" — تیسری بار فرمایا — "جو چاہے۔" (آپ نے یہ اس لیے فرمایا) اس بات کی ناپسندیدگی میں کہ لوگ اسے سنت سمجھ لیں۔
