حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، وَعَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، صَاحِبِ الزِّيَادِيِّ وَعَاصِمٍ الأَحْوَلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ خَطَبَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي يَوْمٍ رَدْغٍ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ حَىَّ عَلَى الصَّلاَةِ. فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُنَادِيَ الصَّلاَةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ. فَنَظَرَ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ فَقَالَ فَعَلَ هَذَا مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ وَإِنَّهَا عَزْمَةٌ.
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah bin al-Harith (upon him be mercy) narrates that Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) delivered a sermon to us one day when it was muddy. When the mu'adhdhin reached 'Hayya alas-salah,' he ordered him to call out 'As-salatu fir-rihal' (Pray in your dwellings). The people began looking at one another, so Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) said: 'This was done by one who was better than me (i.e. the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and indeed it (the Friday prayer) is obligatory.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن حارث رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے ایک دن ہمیں خطبہ دیا جس دن کیچڑ ہو رہی تھی۔ جب مؤذن «حی علی الصلاة» پر پہنچا تو آپ نے حکم دیا کہ کہو «الصلاة في الرحال» (اپنی اپنی جگہوں پر نماز پڑھ لو)۔ اس پر لوگ ایک دوسرے کو دیکھنے لگے تو حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے فرمایا: ایسا مجھ سے بہتر ذات (یعنی نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے بھی کیا تھا اور اس میں شک نہیں کہ (جمعہ) واجب ہے۔
