Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنِي قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي الْخَنْدَقِ، وَهُمْ يَحْفِرُونَ، وَنَحْنُ نَنْقُلُ التُّرَابَ عَلَى أَكْتَادِنَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " اللَّهُمَّ لاَ عَيْشَ إِلاَّ عَيْشُ الآخِرَهْ، فَاغْفِرْ لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالأَنْصَارِ ".
English Translation
Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him) states, 'We were with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) at the Trench. The Companions were digging and we were carrying earth on our shoulders. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was declaring: O Allah! There is no life except the life of the Hereafter. Forgive the Ansar and the Emigrants.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ خندق میں تھے۔ صحابہ کرام خندق کھود رہے تھے اور ہم اپنے کندھوں پر مٹی ڈھو رہے تھے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم فرما رہے تھے: اے اللہ! آخرت کی زندگی کے سوا کوئی (حقیقی) زندگی نہیں، انصار اور مہاجرین کو بخش دے۔
