Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْتُلُ الْحَيَّاتِ. فَحَدَّثَهُ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ جِنَّانِ الْبُيُوتِ، فَأَمْسَكَ عَنْهَا.
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both — via Nafi') that he used to kill snakes. Then Hadrat Abu Lubaba (may Allah be well pleased with him) informed him that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had forbidden killing the snakes that dwell in houses (Jinnan al-Buyut) — so he stopped killing them.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے (نافع کے واسطے سے) مروی ہے کہ وہ سانپوں کو مارا کرتے تھے۔ پھر حضرت ابو لبابہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے انہیں بتایا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے گھروں میں رہنے والے سانپوں (جِنَّانِ البُیُوت) کو مارنے سے منع فرمایا ہے — تو انہوں نے مارنا بند کر دیا۔
