حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمُعَاذٌ رَدِيفُهُ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ قَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ ". قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ. قَالَ " يَا مُعَاذُ ". قَالَ لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ. ثَلاَثًا. قَالَ " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صِدْقًا مِنْ قَلْبِهِ إِلاَّ حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى النَّارِ ". قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَفَلاَ أُخْبِرُ بِهِ النَّاسَ فَيَسْتَبْشِرُوا قَالَ " إِذًا يَتَّكِلُوا ". وَأَخْبَرَ بِهَا مُعَاذٌ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ تَأَثُّمًا .
English Translation
Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that Hadrat Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be well pleased with him) was riding behind the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the same mount. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) called out: O Hadrat Mu'adh bin Jabal! He replied: At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and may I attain felicity. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) called again: O Hadrat Mu'adh! He replied: At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and may I attain felicity. This happened three times. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: No one who testifies sincerely from his heart that there is no deity but Allah and that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), except that Allah will make the Hellfire forbidden for him. Hadrat Mu'adh (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), shall I not inform the people of this so they may rejoice? He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: Then they will rely solely upon it. Hadrat Mu'adh (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated this hadith at the time of his death, fearing the sin of concealing sacred knowledge.
Urdu Translation
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ (ایک مرتبہ) حضرت معاذ بن جبل رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پیچھے سواری پر بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اے حضرت معاذ بن جبل! عرض کیا: حاضر ہوں یا رسول اللہ، اور سعادت مندی پاؤں۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: اے حضرت معاذ! عرض کیا: حاضر ہوں یا رسول اللہ، اور سعادت مندی پاؤں۔ تین مرتبہ (ایسا ہوا)۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: جو شخص سچے دل سے گواہی دے کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اللہ کے رسول ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ اس پر دوزخ حرام فرما دیتا ہے۔ حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا میں لوگوں کو یہ خوشخبری نہ سنا دوں تاکہ خوش ہو جائیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس وقت لوگ (اعمال چھوڑ کر) اسی پر بھروسہ کر بیٹھیں گے۔ حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے (علم چھپانے کے) گناہ سے بچنے کے لیے وفات کے وقت یہ حدیث بیان فرما دی۔
