حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ قَالَ نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حُمَيْدٍ وَأَبَا أُسَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولَانِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْحَدِيثَ تَعْرِفُهُ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَتَلِينُ لَهُ أَشْعَارُكُمْ وَأَبْشَارُكُمْ وَتَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مِنْكُمْ قَرِيبٌ فَأَنَا أَوْلَاكُمْ بِهِ وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْحَدِيثَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُكُمْ وَتَتَغَيَّرُ لَهُ قُلُوبُكُمْ أَوْ أَشْعَارُكُمْ وَتَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مِنْكُمْ بَعِيدٌ فَأَنَا أَبْعَدُكُمْ مِنْهُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْحَدِيثَ تَعْرِفُهُ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَتَلِينُ لَهُ أَشْعَارُكُمْ وَأَبْشَارُكُمْ وَتَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مِنْكُمْ قَرِيبٌ فَأَنَا أَوْلَاكُمْ بِهِ وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْحَدِيثَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُكُمْ وَتَتَغَيَّرُ لَهُ قُلُوبُكُمْ أَوْ أَشْعَارُكُمْ وَتَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مِنْكُمْ بَعِيدٌ فَأَنَا أَبْعَدُكُمْ مِنْهُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وَجْهٍ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abu Amir narrated to us, he said: Sulayman ibn Bilal narrated to us, from Rabi'ah - meaning ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman - from Abd al-Malik ibn Sa'id ibn Suwayd, who said: I heard Abu Humayd and Abu Usayd, may Allah be well pleased with them both, saying: The Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said: "When you hear a hadith that your hearts recognize and your hair and skin become soft toward, and you see that it is close to you, then I am the most worthy of you regarding it. And when you hear a hadith that your skin shudders at and your hearts or your hair recoil from, and you see it as far from you, then I am the furthest of you from it." This hadith - we do not know it to be narrated from the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, through any route better than this route.
