Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna Abu Musa narrated to us, he said: Abu Amir narrated to us, he said: Zuhayr narrated to us from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil from Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im from his father (may Allah be well pleased with him) that a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, which lands are most beloved to Allah and which lands are most hateful to Allah?' He said: 'I do not know until I ask Jibril (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' So he came to him and Jibril informed him that the most beloved places to Allah are the mosques, and the most hateful places to Allah are the markets. This hadith—we do not know it narrated from Jubayr ibn Mut'im except with this chain of transmission. Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil—people tolerated his hadith, and we have explained what is necessary regarding his hadith in other places. Similar wording to this has been narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) through various routes, so we contented ourselves with Jubayr's hadith unless someone narrating this from the Messenger of Allah adds something, then we bring that out for the benefit of the addition. Ibn Aqil did not narrate from Muhammad ibn Jubayr other than this hadith. Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated it to us, he said: Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, he said: I heard Muhammad ibn Ishaq, he said: I heard Ya'qub ibn Utbah and Jubayr ibn Muhammad ibn Jubayr from his father from his grandfather. This is how Abu Musa and Bundar and Abd al-A'la ibn Hammad narrated it to us—they all agreed on this chain of transmission, because Wahb ibn Jarir's manuscript from his father from Ibn Ishaq was with Abd al-A'la ibn Hammad, and it was thus in his book. Abu Musa and Bundar copied from Abd al-A'la's book, so it appeared thus in their books.
