أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ يَسْأَلُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَشْتَرِيهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَشْتَرِهِ وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us... from Zayd ibn Aslam from his father who said: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'I donated a horse in the way of Allah, and I saw it being sold. I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) whether I should buy it, and he said: Do not buy it and do not take back your charity.'
