English Translation
Salman passed by a people who were reciting a prostration verse. They said: Shall we prostrate? He said: It is not what we came for. And from Sufyan from Ibn Jurayj from Ata' from Ibn Abbas who said: The prostration is only upon the one who sat for it. And from Sufyan from Tariq ibn Abd al-Rahman from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib who said: The prostration is only upon the one who heard it. And it was narrated from another chain from Ibn al-Musayyib from Uthman who said: The prostration is only upon the one who sat for it and listened. And it is mentioned from Ibn Umar something similar to what Ibn al-Musayyib himself said.
