أَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ أنبأ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ اللَّخْمِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا طَفَا السَّمَكُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ فَلَا تَأْكُلْهُ وَإِذَا جَزَرَ عَنْهُ الْبَحْرُ فَكُلْهُ وَمَا كَانَ عَلَى حَافَتِهِ فَكُلْهُ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ لَمْ يَرْفَعْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ إِلَّا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you go to bed, perform ablution as you do for prayer, then lie on your right side and say: O Allah, I submit my soul to You, I direct my face to You, I entrust my affair to You, I lean my back on You, out of desire and awe toward You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and Your Prophet whom You sent. Make these your last words.
