English Translation
Abu al-Husayn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Bishran al-Adl in Baghdad informed us > Abu Ali Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Saffar > Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Mansur > Mu'adh ibn Hisham > my father > Qatadah > Abu Qilabah > Abu Asma' > Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah gathered the earth for me until I saw its east and its west, and He gave me the two treasures — the red and the white. The dominion of my Ummah will reach what was gathered of it for me. I asked my Lord not to destroy them by a universal drought, not to set an enemy upon them from other than themselves to annihilate them, and not to clothe them in factions and make some of them taste the violence of others. He said: 'O Muhammad, when I grant something, there is no taking it back. I have granted your Ummah that they will not be destroyed by a universal drought, that I will not set an enemy upon them from other than themselves to exterminate them — even if all the people from their regions gathered against them — until some of them destroy others, some of them take others captive, and some of them try others.' And tribes from my Ummah will return to polytheism and the worship of idols. And among the most fearful things I fear are the misleading leaders. When the sword is placed among them, it will not be lifted until the Day of Resurrection. And there will emerge in my Ummah liars and dajjals, close to thirty. And I am the Seal of the Prophets — there is no prophet after me. And a group of my Ummah will remain upon the truth, supported, until the command of Allah comes."
