أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ سَأَلَ اللهَ الشَّهَادَةَ بِصِدْقٍ بَلَّغَهُ اللهُ مَنَازِلَ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَإِنْ مَاتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam, from Ibn Wahb, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Shurayh, that Sahl ibn Abi Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf narrated to him from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Whoever sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will grant him the ranks of the martyrs even if he dies on his bed.
