أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْلَا أَنَّ رِجَالًا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَا تَطِيبُ أَنْفُسُهُمْ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنِّي وَلَا أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مَا تَخَلَّفْتُ عَنْ سَرِيَّةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنْ أُقْتَلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ أُحْيَا ثُمَّ أُقْتَلُ ثُمَّ أُحْيَا ثُمَّ أُقْتَلُ ثُمَّ أُحْيَا ثُمَّ أُقْتَلُ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu Muhammad Ahmad ibn Abdullah al-Muzani, from Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Isa, from Abu al-Yaman, from Shu'ayb, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, were it not that some men among the believers cannot bear to be left behind and I cannot find mounts for them, I would never stay behind from any raiding party going in the cause of Allah. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I would love to be killed in the cause of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed.
