English Translation
Abu al-Husain bin Bishran informed us... from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: If the one who drinks while standing knew what was in his stomach, he would vomit it out. And Ma'mar narrated from al-A'mash from Abu Salih from Abu Hurairah from the Prophet (peace be upon him) the same as the hadith of al-Zuhri. He said: When this reached Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he called for water and drank while standing. The Shaykh said: This prohibition mentioned in the reports is either a prohibition of dislike or a prohibition of forbiddance that was later abrogated.
