English Translation
Abu 'Azzah al-Jumahi was captured on the day of Badr and said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'O Muhammad, I have daughters and I am in need, and there is no one in Makkah to ransom me. You know my need.' So the Prophet spared his life, freed him, and released him on the condition that he would not assist against him by hand or tongue. He then praised the Prophet for pardoning him. Then the narration mentions his story with Safwan ibn Umayyah al-Jumahi, and Safwan's suggestion that he go out with him in the battle of Uhud, and his guarantee regarding his daughters. He kept persuading him until he obeyed and went out with the Ahabish from Banu Kinanah. He was captured on the day of Uhud. When he was brought to the Prophet, he said: 'Show me grace, release me.' The Prophet said: 'The people of Makkah will not say that you fooled Muhammad twice.' He ordered his execution.
