حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ مَثَلُ الزَّرْعِ لَا تَزَالُ الرِّيحُ تُمِيلُهُ وَلَا يَزَالُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُصِيبُهُ الْبَلَاءُ وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَشَجَرَةِ الْأَرْزَةِ لَا تَهْتَزُّ حَتَّى تُسْتَحْصَدَ.
English Translation
Abd al-A'la told us, Ma'mar told us, from al-Zuhri, from Sa'id, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of the believer is like that of a crop; the wind continually bends it, and the believer is continually afflicted with trial. And the example of the hypocrite is like the cedar tree, which does not sway until it is uprooted all at once."
