حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَنَّ شَاعِرًا قَالَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَبِلَالُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ خَيْرُ بِلَالِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ كَذَبْتَ ذَاكَ بِلَالُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Abdullah told us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'id told us, Abu Usamah told us, from Umar ibn Hamzah, from Salim: that a poet said in the presence of Ibn Umar, "Bilal, the freedman of Abdullah, is the best of the Bilals." Ibn Umar said to him, "You have lied - that one is the Bilal of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him."
