حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا يَعْنِي ضَنَّ النَّاسُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ وَتَبَايَعُوا بِالْعَيْنِ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ وَتَرَكُوا الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ بَلَاءً فَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّى يُرَاجِعُوا دِينَهُمْ.
English Translation
al-Aswad ibn 'Amir told us, Abu Bakr informed us, from al-A'mash, from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "When people become stingy with the dinar and dirham, and trade deceitfully, and follow the tails of cattle, and abandon jihad in the way of God, God will send down upon them a calamity, and He will not remove it from them until they return to their religion."
