حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْزِلًا فَانْطَلَقَ إِنْسَانٌ إِلَى غَيْضَةٍ فَأَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا بَيْضَ حُمَرَةٍ فَجَاءَتْ اَلْحُمَرَةُ تَرِفُّ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرُءُوسِ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ أَيُّكُمْ فَجَعَ هَذِهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ أَنَا أَصَبْتُ لَهَا بَيْضًا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ارْدُدْهُ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْزِلًا فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ وَقَالَ رُدَّهُ رَحْمَةً لَهَا.
English Translation
Abu Qatan told us, al-Mas'udi told us, from al-Hasan ibn Sa'd, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah, from his father, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stopped at a resting place, and a man went off to a thicket and took eggs of a sparrow from it. The mother bird came fluttering over the head of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the heads of his companions, and he said: 'Who has distressed this bird?' A man from the people said: 'I took its eggs.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Put them back.'" Yazid told us, al-Mas'udi informed us, from al-Hasan ibn Sa'd, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah, from his father, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stopped at a resting place," and he mentioned something similar, and said: "Put it back, out of mercy for it."
