قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ قَاعِدًا حَتَّى أَسَنَّ فَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ قَاعِدًا حَتَّى إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ قَامَ فَقَرَأَ نَحْوًا مِنْ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ آيَةً ثُمَّ رَكَعَ.
English Translation
He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that she informed him that she never saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, pray the night prayer sitting until he grew old; then he would recite sitting, and when he wanted to bow, he would stand and recite about thirty or forty verses, then bow.
