حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَضْرِبُ غُلَامًا لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاللَّهِ لَلَّهُ أَقْدَرُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْكَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ فَإِنِّي أُعْتِقُهُ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us, from Sulayman, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, from Abu Mas'ud: that he was beating a young slave of his, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "By Allah, Allah has more power over you than you have over him." He said, "O Prophet of Allah, then I free him for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic."
