English Translation
Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Hashimi told us, Isma'il -- meaning Ibn Ja'far -- told us, al-Ala' informed me, from Ma'bad ibn Ka'b al-Sulami, from his brother Abdullah ibn Ka'b, from Abu Umamah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever cuts off the right of a Muslim by his oath, Allah has made the Fire obligatory for him and forbidden him Paradise." A man said to him, "Even if it be something trifling, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Even if it be a twig of arak-wood." Yazid told us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, from Ma'bad ibn Ka'b -- and he mentioned the like of it, except that he said "from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, one of the Banu Haritha." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This is Abu Umamah al-Harithi, and he is not Abu Umamah al-Bahili.
