English Translation

Isma'il ibn Ibrahim told us, Layth ibn Abi Sulaym informed us, from Ubaydullah, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umamah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "The most enviable of people in my sight is a believing servant of light means, possessed of a share in prayer, who obeys his Lord and worships Him well in secret, and is inconspicuous among people, not pointed at with fingers, and his livelihood is just sufficient, and his livelihood is just sufficient" -- the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, began tapping with his two fingers -- "and his livelihood is just sufficient, and his livelihood is just sufficient; his death comes quickly, few weep for him, and his estate is small." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I asked my father, I said, "What is his turath?" He said: "His inheritance." Aswad told us, al-Hasan ibn Salih told us, from Abu al-Muhallab, from Ubaydullah ibn Zahr, from Ali ibn Yazid -- and he mentioned the hadith, and he tapped with his hand.
