حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي طَالِبٍ الضُّبَعِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَأَنْ أَقْعُدَ أَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ وَأُكَبِّرُهُ وَأَحْمَدُهُ وَأُسَبِّحُهُ وَأُهَلِّلُهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَعْتِقَ رَقَبَتَيْنِ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَمِنْ بَعْدِ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَعْتِقَ أَرْبَعَ رِقَابٍ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ.
English Translation
Affan told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, Ali ibn Zayd informed us, from Abu Talib al-Dhuba'i, from Abu Umamah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "That I sit remembering Allah, exalting Him, praising Him, glorifying Him, and proclaiming His oneness until the sun rises is dearer to me than to free two slaves or more of the descendants of Isma'il, and from after the afternoon prayer until the sun sets is dearer to me than to free four slaves of the descendants of Isma'il."
