حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِصَاحِبِهِ اقْرَءُوا الزَّهْرَاوَيْنِ الْبَقَرَةَ وَآلَ عِمْرَانَ فَإِنَّهُمَا يَأْتِيَانِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَيَايَتَانِ أَوْ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَمَامَتَانِ أَوْ كَأَنَّهُمَا فِرْقَانِ مِنْ طَيْرٍ صَوَافَّ يُحَاجَّانِ عَنْ أَصْحَابِهِمَا اقْرَءُوا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَإِنَّ أَخْذَهَا بَرَكَةٌ وَتَرْكَهَا حَسْرَةٌ وَلَا تَسْتَطِيعُهَا الْبَطَلَةُ.
English Translation
Affan told us, Aban told us, Yahya ibn Abi Kathir told us, from Zayd, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Umamah al-Bahili, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Recite the Qur'an, for it comes as an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection for its companion. Recite the two luminous ones, al-Baqarah and Aal 'Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, arguing on behalf of their companions. Recite Surat al-Baqarah, for taking it up is a blessing and forsaking it is a regret, and the workers of falsehood cannot withstand it."
