حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ طَمَعٍ يَهْدِي إِلَى طَبْعٍ وَمِنْ طَمَعٍ فِي غَيْرِ مَطْمَعٍ وَمِنْ طَمَعٍ حَيْثُ لَا مَطْمَعَ.
English Translation
Abdullah narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us: Abdullah ibn Amir al-Aslami narrated to us, from al-Walid ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Muadh, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Seek refuge in Allah from a greed that leads to a bad character, from greed for that which cannot be attained, and from greed where there is nothing to be gained.'
