حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ الْغَسَّانِيُّ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ أَقْوَامٌ إِخْوَانُ الْعَلَانِيَةِ أَعْدَاءُ السَّرِيرَةِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَكَيْفَ يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ بِرَغْبَةِ بَعْضِهِمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ وَرَهْبَةِ بَعْضِهِمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ.
English Translation
Abu al-Yaman told us, Abu Bakr ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Maryam al-Ghassani told us, from Habib ibn Ubayd, from Mu'adh: that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There will come, at the end of time, people who are brothers in public but enemies in secret. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, how can that be? He said: That is due to some of them desiring something from others, and some of them fearing others.
