English Translation
Al-Hakam ibn Nafi' Abu al-Yaman told us, Safwan ibn Amr told us, from Rashid ibn Sa'd, from Asim ibn Humayd al-Sakuni: that when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent Mu'adh out to Yemen, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, went with him giving him instructions, with Mu'adh riding and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, walking beneath his mount. When he had finished, he said: O Mu'adh, perhaps you will not meet me after this year of mine, and perhaps you will pass by my mosque and my grave. So Mu'adh ibn Jabal wept out of grief at parting from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not weep, O Mu'adh — weeping, or indeed weeping, is from Satan.
