حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ وَإِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عِيسَى أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقِ الشَّامِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِفَتًى بَرَّاقِ الثَّنَايَا وَإِذَا النَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ إِذَا اخْتَلَفُوا فِي شَيْءٍ أَسْنَدُوهُ إِلَيْهِ وَصَدَرُوا عَنْ رَأْيِهِ فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ فَقِيلَ هَذَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْغَدُ هَجَّرْتُ فَوَجَدْتُ قَدْ سَبَقَنِي بِالْهَجِيرِ وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ بِالتَّهْجِيرِ وَوَجَدْتُهُ يُصَلِّي فَانْتَظَرْتُهُ حَتَّى إِذَا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ جِئْتُهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ وَجْهِهِ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَقَالَ أَاللَّهِ فَقُلْتُ أَاللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَاللَّهِ فَقُلْتُ أَاللَّهِ فَأَخَذَ بِحُبْوَةِ رِدَائِي فَجَبَذَنِي إِلَيْهِ وَقَالَ أَبْشِرْ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَجَبَتْ مَحَبَّتِي لِلْمُتَحَابِّينَ فِيَّ وَالْمُتَجَالِسِينَ فِيَّ وَالْمُتَزَاوِرِينَ فِيَّ وَالْمُتَبَاذِلِينَ فِيَّ.
English Translation
Rawh told us, Malik and Ishaq — namely Ibn Isa — told us; Malik informed me, from Abu Hazim ibn Dinar, from Abu Idris al-Khawlani, who said: I entered the mosque of Damascus in Syria, and there was a young man with gleaming front teeth, and the people were gathered around him; whenever they disagreed about something, they referred it to him and deferred to his opinion. I asked about him and was told: This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal. The next day I went early, during the hottest part of the day, and found that he had beaten me there, and found him praying. I waited for him until, when he had finished his prayer, I came to him from in front and greeted him, and said to him: By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. He said: By Allah? I said: By Allah. He said: By Allah? I said: By Allah. Then he took hold of the fold of my garment and pulled me toward him and said: Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has said: My love is assured for those who love one another for My sake, and those who sit together for My sake, and those who visit one another for My sake, and those who give to one another for My sake.
