English Translation
Harun ibn Ma'ruf told us — and I also heard it myself from Harun: Ibn Wahb told us: Amr ibn al-Harith ibn Ya'qub informed me, from his father, from Abu al-Aswad al-Ghifari, from al-Nu'man al-Ghifari, from Abu Dharr, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "O Abu Dharr, understand what I say to you: a small she-goat that comes to a Muslim man is better for him than having Uhud in gold that he leaves behind him. O Abu Dharr, understand what I say to you: those who accumulate much are the ones with the least [reward] on the Day of Resurrection, except one who does such-and-such. Understand, O Abu Dharr, what I say to you: goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection" — or: "goodness is in the forelocks of horses."
