English Translation
Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik and Affan told us, they said: Abu Awana told us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays — Affan said in his narration: al-Aswad ibn Qays told us — from Nubayh, from Ibn Abbas, that Ubayy said to Umar: "O Commander of the Believers, I received the Qur'an from one who received it" — and Affan said, "from one who receives it" — "from Gabriel, peace be upon him, while it was still fresh."
