حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ فِيهَا فَقَامَ فَخَطَبَ خُطْبَةً أُخْرَى قَائِمًا فَمَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطَبَ قَاعِدًا فَلَا تُصَدِّقْهُ.
English Translation
Abdullah narrated to us: Khalaf ibn Hisham narrated to us: Abu Awanah narrated to us from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, deliver a sermon standing; he would sit for a pause in which he did not speak, then he would stand and deliver another sermon standing. So whoever tells you that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon sitting, do not believe him.
