English Translation
Rawh told us, Uthman al-Shahham told us, Muslim ibn Abi Bakrah told us, from his father, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "There will be tribulations, then there will be tribulations. Indeed the one who walks in them is better than the one who runs towards them; indeed the one who sits in them is better than the one who stands in them; indeed the one who lies down in them is better than the one who sits. So when they descend, whoever has sheep, let him attach himself to his sheep; whoever has land, let him attach himself to his land; whoever has camels, let him attach himself to his camels." A man from the people said: "O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what about one who has no sheep, no land, and no camels - what should he do?" He said: "Let him take his sword, then go with it to a rock, and strike its edge with a stone, then let him try to save himself if he is able to escape. O Allah, have I conveyed it? O Allah, have I conveyed it?" Then a man said: "O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what if my hand is seized and I am forced against my will to be taken to one of the two ranks or one of the two factions" - Uthman was uncertain - "and a man strikes me with his sword and kills me, what will become of my case?" He said: "He will bear your sin and his own sin, and he will be among the people of the Fire."
